The short version

Why the Ios Engineer interview is hard

iOS interviews reward candidates who understand what the device is doing. Swift language depth, memory under ARC, app lifecycle and the constraints of running on a phone come up consistently.

What to expect

The rounds you should rehearse

01

Memory and ARC

retain cycles, weak and unowned, and why a screen never deallocates.

02

App lifecycle

state restoration, backgrounding, and being terminated without warning.

03

UIKit and SwiftUI

knowing where each fits and how they coexist in real codebases.

Avoid these

The mistakes that quietly sink candidates

  • Writing Swift without being able to explain when a retain cycle occurs.

  • Ignoring the lifecycle, then having no answer for what happens when the app is backgrounded.

  • Treating battery, memory and network constraints as someone else's concern.

Reading the questions is not practicing them.

Run a live voice mock tuned to the Ios Engineer interview. It follows your answers, probes the gaps, and scores you like a senior interviewer would.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How deep does iOS interviewing go on memory?
Deep enough that retain cycles, weak and unowned references and closure capture semantics are standard ground. It is one of the most reliable ways interviewers separate people who have shipped from people who have followed tutorials.
SwiftUI or UIKit?
Both, realistically. Most production codebases contain a mix, so being able to discuss where each is appropriate and how they interoperate is more useful than advocating exclusively for either.
